The Associação de Cepas is an initiative dedicated to reproducing microorganisms in the laboratory and supplying them at cost, enabling farmers to multiply their own bioinputs in on-farm biofactories — with safety, quality, and technical support.
Accessible bioinputs to strengthen regenerative agriculture
What it is
Why it was created
With the enactment of the Bioinputs Law (2024) and the strengthening of the National Bioinputs Program, Brazil now has a regulatory framework that allows and encourages on-farm production.
In practice, however, small and medium-sized farmers still face two key challenges:
- high cost of commercial bioinputs (R$ 60 to R$ 700 per liter)
- lack of technical support to produce inputs with quality and stability
The Association was created to address these bottlenecks.
What the Association does
- Reproduces selected microbial strains in the laboratory
- Supplies these strains at cost
- Provides technical support for safe multiplication in on-farm biofactories
- Assists with quality control, storage, and preparation of culture media
- Ensures access to appropriate and up-to-date technologies
Why on-farm bioinputs matter
- Drastically reduce production costs (around R$ 6.50 per liter on-farm)
- Increase farmer autonomy and operational security
- Replace high-impact chemical inputs
- Strengthen crop resilience, soil health, and productivity
- Democratize the transition to a new agricultural model
Who it is for
- Farmers seeking to reduce costs and adopt regenerative practices
- Settlements, cooperatives, and associations
- Technicians, consultants, and institutions supporting biofactories
- Municipalities and governments promoting bioinput policies
The main bottleneck today
Weed control remains the primary challenge for scaling regenerative grain agriculture.
That is why the Transição Tropical project invests in machinery, innovation, testing, and prototyping.
What the Association delivers
- Reliable and accessible technology
- Cost reduction for farmers
- Productive autonomy
- Qualified expansion in the use of bioinputs
- Acceleration of the regenerative transition in Brazil
The opportunity
Fostering on-farm biofactories enables the agriculture of the future:
more inclusive, more efficient, less dependent on chemicals, and aligned with Brazil’s new bioinputs regulatory framework.
Testimonial
“The creation of PERCEPA represents a strategic step toward strengthening productive autonomy and the collective organization of farmers.
It offers a concrete solution by structuring access, production, and responsible use of bioinputs, grounded in technical, legal, and traceable frameworks.
PERCEPA reduces dependency, production costs, and regulatory risks, while enhancing management practices for the transition to more sustainable agricultural systems.”
